A lightning show with the HS25EXR camera

Photogrphing lightning with the FUjifilm HS25EXR camera should be easy. Set the camera to manual mode, f/2.8 (wide angle), 4seconds and ISO 100. These are not absolute settings. Experiment with other values. I also tried EXR mode but I think the output is better with manual. You can also use higher ISO settings. The photos were taken in the safety of our house, the lightning storm was very far , I could not hear the booms of thunder. You have to take extra precautions when you are outdoors, be sure you are not the tallest object where you are standing.

The ease of adjusting the various individual parameters in the ES25EXR is an advantage. My wish is that the camera should have a BULB setting and even a T setting so I dont have to explicitly set the exposure time before hand. The HS25EXR has a maximum time setting of only 4 seconds during the time of shooting. The true minimum is actually 30 seconds and we should have used this value, but the camera sometimes may NOT allow you to set it to 30 seconds.

Needless to say I will crop the photos to remove our neighbor's houses, with the illuminated sky the only thing showing when I have the time.
