coccinia grandis, ivy gourd


I saw this plant growing in an abandoned lot at UP Clarkfied and it was identified as simply a cucumber growing wild. The fruits are small and turn bright red when overripe.


The fruits look like little cucumbers or elongated water melons.

Gil Jr. Mayo gave the corrected sciname coccinea grandis, which I formerly named Cucumis sativus!.and I will stop calling this as pipinong ligaw. The fruits are edible. See
