Vines: Cissus Sicyoides, Curtain ivy , Princess Vine

This aerial roots of this vine makes nice dividers and a good screen to avoid butterflies from getting out of a butterfly dome. I found this one in Paradise Ranch, Pampanga inside a butterfly house, but I did NOT photograph the vine plant itself which was difficult to do since it was an overcast rainy day.

Calathea makoyana, peacock or brain plant

It looks like a painting! But these rich foliage plants from Paradise Ranch are Calathea makoyanas, common names peacock plant or brain plant. It belongs to the prayer plant of the marantaceae family and the species originated from Brazil. Here is a photo from Paradise Ranch, Pampanga.

Tree,: Licuala Grandis, ruffled fan palm

This strange looking palm is a native of the Vanuatu,in the Pacific. The nice thing is that it will only grow to around 2 meters.

Tree: Tambuyog, Ficus Nota, a tree in swampy area.

Here is a tree I first found in Bocal-Bocal Springs in upper Alangilan, Bacolod City with unusual berries growing in its trunk (not on branches! Somebody tasted it when he was young and it is tasteless and odorous.

When you see this plant, you can see it is near a source of water, thus it is found in swamps, riverbanks, etc.

I am still looking for its scientific name or even the English common name.
Good News[September 22, 2012]! it is ficus nota or "tibig" and is a native tree of the Philippines. Hooray!
