Hibiscus: December 25, 2013

Photographed at Fairfield School, Quezon City using a Canon SX50HS camera by Dr. Ernesto Adorio.

A fresh sighting of a fantail on a mango tree.

I felt happy that I saw a fantail perching on a mango tree at Fairfield School in Quezon City. I hope in the days ahead, there will be more bird sightings.I guess the last typhoon to visit the Philippines have scattered all birds.

We will post a video snippet soon! Here it is:

A small car seen in Philcoa.

I am wondering what brand and model of car this is! Perfect for urban driving?

Bloodleaf plant

I found this growing in Bacolod and Salvador Benedicto. A Facebook friend posted a photo showing it also grows in Australia.

Plant Iresine herbstii
Common name bloodleaf, beefsteak, chicken gizzard
Photographer Dr. Ernesto P Adorio
Acknowledgement George C. Yao (Identification)

Unknown tree in UP Clarkfield

The leaves feel look like those of aratiles, but are larger. There were plenty of buds in most branches. I wonder what this tree is.

Tentatively identified as Parasponia Rugosa by George C. Yao of the PNPCSI(Philippine Native Plant Conservation Society Inc.)

All photos taken with Canon SX50HS camera.

Kapok tree with flowers.

I spied these flowers somewhere in Philcoa, and am wondering what the tall big tree is.

Identified by Ella Bernales Jacido as duldul or kapok tree, with scientific name Ceiba pentandra.
