A sad chapter for Kodak corporation

Just got this from my Facebook wall. Kodak will get out of the digital camera, picture frames and video cameras market! Sad times have visited one of the most dynamic companies in the era of photographic films, paper and chemicals and consumer cameras. The sadness is heavy for Kodak since the digital camera was even invented at Kodak! As usual people are responsible, and management may be to blame, but Japanese companies camera manufacturer are still going strong such as Canon Nikon. Here is the announcment from Facebook:

Kodak plans to phase out of the market for dedicated capture devices – digital cameras, pocket video cameras and digital picture frames – during 2012 to focus its Consumer Business on desktop inkjet, online and retail-based printing – areas that offer the most significant opportunities for profitable growth. Kodak will continue to offer camera accessories and batteries, which are universally compatible with other brands.
We appreciate you choosing Kodak products. Please be assured that we will continue to honor all warranties, and provide technical support and service for our cameras, pocket video cameras and frames.

Flowers, spathyphyllum

Here is a flower which first look like an anthurium, but it is not, though they are related!

Dr. Hermosilla comments that it is an expensive specimen from Thailand. And Ms. Ella thinks it looks like a colored dumb cane.

For more photos of lovely flowers, visit my publicly accessible facebook album at

Cats are easier to photograph than dogs!

For the simple reason they move slower and that makes life easy for the photographer.

I will be searching for photos already posted in Facebook.

Argus camera company still alive??!!

Today, I got curius again on what happened to the old American camera manufacturers. I searched for Argus, whose cameras are always seen in photography/camera magazines of the 60's to the 70's. Visit arguscamera.com.

I am amazed that the name is still very much alive. Here is a screen shot products displayed in the landing web page.

We sure miss the Polaroid, Bausch and Lomb, Univex (the half-frame 35 mm 72 shots/cartridge)and others. But progress may be hard on manufacturers unable to adjust to rapid changes and economic cycles. The Japanese Canon, Nikon are still going strong!
